Introduction to Restorative Justice Practices
This is an educational and experiential introduction to the first tier of restorative justice -- building and strengthening relationships through restorative justice circles. This workshop includes a dive into the history and roots of RJ, as well as the basic principles, practices, benefits, overview of harm and identifying it, as well as the path to embodying a restorative lifestyle. It also includes an opportunity to engage in a restorative circle. This workshop can be adapted to meet the needs of your community!
Developing Community Agreements
A pair of restorative justice facilitators can assist you and your community with creating and establishing agreements. These are also commonly known as expectations, ground rules, or established norms. These community agreements can be used in various communities such as classrooms, teams, committees, student organizations, and office buildings. These community agreements can be used to establish expectations for how individuals want to be in community together, treat one another, and how to address things that may arise while remaining in community. They pave the way for individuals of various identities and roles to engage in equitable, inclusive, and respectful dialogues. This workshop can be adapted to meet the needs of your community!
Creating Restorative Classrooms
This session is geared toward Rutgers faculty. Content includes an introduction to restorative practices, an exploration of what restorative classrooms are, a discussion on living restoratively, and realistic individual and/or community goal setting. This workshop can be adapted to meet the needs of your community!
- Conflict Management Workshop
This workshop is geared toward student communities and is typically a combination of an educational and experiential session. This workshop includes an exploration of conflict and harm, skills and tools that can be utilized both proactively and responsively, and a discussion surrounding living a restorative lifestyle. This workshop can be adapted to meet the needs of your community!
- Restorative Justice Training
The Foundations of Restorative Justice Training
This training offers participants an opportunity to learn about the history and roots of restorative justice, the basic principles, practices, and benefits, as well as types of harm and how to identify them. There is also deep discussion and exploration into self-care and the path to embodying a restorative lifestyle. Please note that it is an experiential training and will include case studies and role playing. This training can be adapted to meet the needs of your community!
